Lucinda Gooderham goes into Sunday’s Rowing World Championships heats in Amsterdam, Holland, believing a tactical switch can give her crew a better chance of her first senior medal.

The 30-year-old, who was born in Bury St Edmunds and raised in Garbolodisham, will dictate the rhythm in the women’s quadruple sculls from the stroke seat, having moved from number two during their five-week training camp.

“So far we have been going a lot faster in that combination,” she said. “With the improvements we have made the top six is definitely the most important
thing and after that we are probably aiming for a medal.”
