London 2012: Caroline Maclean and wheelchair basketball team suffer opening defeat

Have your say

CAROLINE Maclean’s London 2012 campaign got off to a difficult start as they were well beaten by potential gold medallists the Netherlands.

Great Britain took an early 3-0 lead, but soon found themselves pegged back and the Netherlands did not look back, going on to win 62-35.

The 37-year-old from Haverhill — in her fourth Paralympic Games — is back in action tomorrow against Australia (1pm).

Maclean plays for Sudbury-based Eastern Blue Stars and has twice won the St Edmundsbury Sports Personality of the Year award.
