Roller hockey ace Alex Jones has returned from his debut Under-20 World Championships having helped England to 11th place.

The 16-year-old Bury Roller Hockey player scored twice across seven games in Colombia in his first taste of the under-20 team — and he can’t wait for more.

“I thought I did okay, I had to step up my game and hopefully I will make the team for the Europeans, which are about this time next year,” he said.

He was alongside familiar faces though with Bury teammates Reuben Alam, Sam Norton and Sam Norris, the latter who captained the side, all involved.

Jones, who lives in Sudbury, said a tough group draw, featuring defending champions Spain and the host nation, hampered them in achieving their top-eight ambition, losing to a strong Brazil team in a plate play-off with four wins and three defeats overall.
