Great Britain volleyball player Chris Gregory was the special guest as part of the Sporting Champions initiative to help launch Bury Volleyball Club.
Gregory, who is currently in training at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre ahead of qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, gave a talk and answered questions ahead of helping to coach an open session at Abbeycroft Lesuire Centre.
The session was well attended with a wide range of ages and abilities and laid a good foundation for the establishment of the new club which is part of the Suffolk Volleyball Association’s £13,000 Development Project which will be enhancing schools and developing three new community clubs across the county.
The Bury St Edmunds sessions which are supported by Suffolk Sport, are part of Volleyball England’s Go Spike campaign and Sport England’s Sportivate programme, which will continue each Sunday, from 2pm-3.30pm for adults and teens over 14. These are followed by a junior session from 3.30pm-5pm. Each session will cost £6 for adults or £3 for under-19s.
