West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club members enjoyed some tremendous success in recent triathlons, with the stand out being Julian Long in the Wattisham Triathlon on Sunday.

Consisting of a 300-metre swim, 20-kilometre cycle ride and 5km run, Long’s time of 59 minutes 24 seconds was rewarded with first place.

Other Wheelers: Darren Sharman (11th, 1.01.23); Esther Colman (22nd, 1.03.11); Julian Colman (62nd, 1.08.25); David Leaver (86th, 1.11.34); Lyndon Houston (91st, 1.12.08); Conrad Burgess (143rd, 1.16.50); Stephen Bull (156th, 1.18.32); Jill Wilshaw (164th, 1.19.21); Dawn DaMarco (165th, 1.19.22).

n Fritton Lake was the venue for the Fritton Lake Sprint Triathlon on Saturday, a 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run.

In 35th position overall and second lady was Hannah McInroy Naylor in 1.15.53, followed by Sharon Perry (third lady, 47th overall, 1.17.18).

The lake also hosted Sunday’s Olympic distance triathlon — a 1,500m swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run.

Keith Marra finished well in 2.10.24 for sixth overall, while clubmate Ray Reeves posted of 2.24.38 for 31st.

Reeves also teamed up with Angela Joiner-Handy and Julie Reeves to finish the Fritton Lake Olympic Distance triathlon relay as ninth team overall.

n Not to be outdone by their senior clubmates, West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club’s junior members thoroughly enjoyed the Norwich Junior triathlon on Sunday.

In the Tri Star 1 category (nine and 10 years — 150m swim, 2km bike ride and 1,200m run), Wheelers Charlie Knowler (14.09) and Stuart Adam (14.20) were first and second.

Other Wheelers: Thomas Verzijl (14th, 16.23); Hugo Thornely (16th, 16.54); George Possnet (21st, 17.42); Thomas Curtis (24th, 18.04).

In Tri Star 2 (11 and 12 years — 200m swim, 4km bike ride and 1,800m run), first Wheeler home was Annalise Verzijl (25th in 26.26), followed by Jennifer Adam (27th, 27.08) and Kathleen Adam (32nd, 29.00).

Competing in TriStar 3 (13 and 14 years — 300m swim, 6km bike and 2400m run), Johan Hasselder placed 11th in 32.12 and Catherine McKeag 23rd in 38.00.

In the youth category (15 and 16 years — same distance as Tristar 3), Casey-Jo Maggs was fourth overall in 30.55.
