Acton’s Charlotte Cobbald was remembered in an
Remembrance Sunday
seven-mile race.

The mother of the promising young runner who sadly died in the summer, Hilde Cobbald, released white doves ahead of the Stowmarket Striders’ Scenic Seven event.

The winner of the race itself was Ipswich Jaffa Brad Jones, who crossed the line in 38 minutes 44 seconds, from a record turnout of more than 400 people.

He was closely followed by Stowmarket Strider Rob Kett in 39.20 and Saint Edmunds Pacer Tom Hale in 39.28.

The first female was once again Saint Edmunds Pacer Odette Robson, coming in well ahead of her competitors in 42.10.

A respectful two-minute silence was held at 11am before the prize giving.

A donation from the proceeds of the race will be made to St Aubyn’s Centre, in Colchester, where Charlotte received specialised medical therapy and support.

Profits from the tea and cake sales will go to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
