JUNIOR tennis starlet Pippa Horn may have been unsuccessful in the defence of her national singles title, but the West Harling youngster partnered Ruth Seaborne to victory in the doubles.
Horn, who last year became the youngest ever AEGON British Junior champion, dropped just a single set in her doubles campaign with Seaborne.
That one dropped set came in a tense semi-final that saw Horn and Seaborne come from behind to win a final set tie-break against third seeds Lauren McMinn and Abbi Melrose.
In the final, second seeds Caitlin Hindmarsh and Amy Hoburn rarely threatened as Horn and Seaborne cruised to the title with a 6-2, 6-2 winning margin.
Seaborne took Horn’s junior singles title by overcoming Wallasey’s Beth Askew 6-0, 7-6(7-4).
Current British number ones in both the men’s and women’s games — Andy Murray and Elena Baltacha — have both been crowned AEGON British Junior champions in the past.
Four-times Wimbledon semi-finalist Tim Henman is another past winner.
