Marley Davies will be setting his sights on further title glory when he competes in the WTKA World Championships.
The 13-year-old, from Risby, flies out to Massa Carrara, Tuscany, Italy, today for the six-day event where he will pit his wits against the best fighters the world has to offer.
For Davies, who trains with the Combat Kickboxing Academy under the guidance of Peter Dunnett, the championships offer the opportunity to add to his growing title collection that has seen him clinch no fewer than eight titles including being crowned English and British champion and Junior English champion earlier this year.
It will be the second time the youngster has represented his country at the world championships and after suffering elimination in the first round last year in Paris, his grandmother Sandra Davies has backed him to learn from his experience.
“He is really excited to be going out to the world championships again,” she said.
“He competed last year in Paris and was disappointed to go out in the first round.
“However, it was a good experience for him and we’re confident he will better this year.
“We are all really proud of him and he is a really talented and dedicated fighter.
“The last two years he has been winning titles in a lot of big competitions and I think he can do it again.”
CKA, who training five nights, have recently opened a new club at Thetford Leisure Centre on Thursdays.
