County Upper School’s Under-14 Boys Wolves basketball team (pictured) recorded their third win from their opening four games with an 85-23 success over Cambridge Cats, roared on by the largest home crowd they have ever played in front of.
A jubilant coach Beddow said: “There was a real atmosphere and I think that helped us right from the start.”
The U14s were led by Patrick Laycock with a huge 24 points, followed by Josh Hales with 12 points.
They will travel to take on Southend Scorpions next, who have also started strongly with three wins.
The under-14 girls lost in a tough matchup with local rivals Ipswich in a game where the 82-56 scoreline did not reflect how close the match really was, while there was better news to report from the under-16 girls’ game at Croydon, as they travelled back to Suffolk with a 76-48 win, their fourth straight victory.
County Upper were led in scoring by Suzie Brawn with 28 points who was supported by Phoebe Parker and Amelia Bullen with 12 points and 10 points respectively.
