County Upper coach hopes to learn from away defeat

The youngsters went down 70-24 against the Essex Rockets at Leigh-on-Sea in their latest fixture.

Beddow said, “Early on we looked strong. It’s hard to keep it up against a team like that though. They outplayed us on the day and we have to admit and accept that.

I’m happy that the boys stayed positive and together, everyone got to play and get some good experience too.

“You just have to hope games like this help you later down the line.”

Josh Hales led for County Upper with nine points, supported by Patrick Laycock with eight points.

County Upper, whose record this season is 11 wins and four losses, now have a two-week break before their next fixture.

County Upper under-18 boys put up a strong performance on their travels to Colchester after coming away with a convincing 57-27 victory against Essex Blades.

After an even start, County Upper began to take a foothold on the game midway through the first quarter.

Leading by 15 points at the interval, they were able to double their advantage as the final whistle blew.

They next face East Hertfordshire Royals tomorrow.

County Upper under-14 girls suffered an 87-40 reverse against a strong West Hertfordshire Warriors outfit.

County Upper were lead in scoring by Kiah Paisley, supported by Reiley Kenck and Alex Popova with nine and six points respectively.

This weekend, the team travel to play Northampton Titans.
