BURY St Edmunds roller skating sensation Chiara Moore has been selected for the Great Britain international training squad.
Nine-year-old Moore, who is a member of the newly-formed Bury St Edmunds Roller Skating Club, is one of only six skaters in the country in her age group to have been chosen to join up with the squad.
The youngster took up the sport three years ago and been given training and guidance by her parents and coaches, Ashley and Angela Moore, who themselves competed at the World Championships in the past.
Her mother could not hide her delight as she spoke about her daughter’s selection.
“We are very proud of her, she has worked so hard and it is a great achievement,” she said. “What Chiara needs to do now is keep working hard and continue to improve.
“It is great for the club as well because she will come back with new techniques, which will help us improve further.
“There are a number of events she could compete at in the autumn, which are smaller international competitions.
“Getting selected for the training squad is definitely the first step to further herself but we will have to see what happens.
“She is very talented, has a lot of potential and is just very excited about it all.”
