Bury St Edmunds Under-11s travelled to Oakham to compete in the Leicester Tigers’ Land Rover Cup.

As winners of the Tigers’ Prima Cup last year, the boys received a special invite to the event, where they were placed in a group alongside Oakham, Melbourne and North Walsham.

In their first match, Bury slumped to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Oakham despite a promising performance in which Paddy Mountford scored.

The second match against Melbourne saw further improvement, but still no victory as the sides played out a pointless draw in an evenly matched contest.

However, in their third and final match Bury finally hit the points trail, comprehensively beating North Walsham 5-0, with tries from Harvey Williams (2), Fergus Vickery, Mountford and Max Derbyshire.

At the end of the day Bury had secured a joint second-place finish with Melbourne, having matched each other’s results.
