The Platinum Dance Academy have secured a number of team and individual places at this year’s World Street Dance Championships, which are being held in Glasgow, this August.
The Bury St Edmunds-based academy travelled to the UDO East Anglian Street Dance Regional Championships, where they tasted a number of successes.
Five teams were entered and all five managed to qualify.
They were Rubix (third in U10 beginner/novice), Distortion (first U14 novice), Ricashay (third U18 novice), Nemesis (fourth U18 Intermediate) and Uknight (second O18 Intermediate).
The academy also had success in solos, with the following dancers qualifying to compete at world championships: Laurelle Matthews-Sole (third U8 beginners), Leah Southern (fifth U14 novice), Trinity Bailey (first U16 novice) and Scarlett Roscamp (fourth U12 Intermediate).
Two of Platinum’s duos also qualified - Olivia Alderton and Rosie Meekings (third U8 beginner/novice duos) and Scarlett Roscamp and Madi Hamilton (third U16 Intermediate duos).
Dancers have been training since returning from last year’s world championships and are hoping for even greater success this year, with many competing in higher divisions.
Lorna Thompson is principle and head coach at the Platinum Dance Academy and is supported by fellow coaches, Mica Chapman and Natasha Klimowicz.
