Bombers keep up promotion push

BRITISH WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL LEAGUE DIVISION TWO SOUTH: London Titans III 29 Bury Bombers 67: Bury Bombers maintained their promotion push with a convincing victory at London Titans III on Sunday.

Daniel Dickings, in the Bombers’ starting five for the first time, opened the scoring, while Jack Perry created several opportunities with good rebounds, blocks and assists, as well as netting three shots.

Aiden Hughes also scored five times as Bury ended the first quarter 21-12 to the good.

Guards Chris Rix and Robert Hubert contributed well in defence, while captain Paul Guest was among the scorers as the Bombers moved 33-17 ahead.

Hubert and Lloyd Jones helped maintain the Suffolk side’s pressure to lead 52-23 and Perry, who finished with 33 points, started the final quarter with a great three-point basket that set the tone for the rest of the game.

The return fixture takes place at Culford Sports and Tennis Centre on February 9 (2pm) — entry is free.
