Bury Bombers 41

Shropshire Warriors 47

Bury Bombers couldn’t follow on from their first win of the new season as they slipped to a narrow defeat to TCAT Shropshire Warriors.

Although Bombers lost the tip and were down six points in the first two minutes, they fought back well and recovered to level shortly after.

Aiden Hughes continued to find the basket, but Warriors were able to capitalise on every opportunity as the hosts found themselves 15-12 down at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw some great defensive work, with Chris Rix picking up rebounds and Jack Perry creating some great turnovers.

The Warriors were only able to score one basket more than Bombers to make the score 21-16 at half-time.

Although Bombers continued to compete strongly, their conversion of shots into points was low. This, combined with some inaccurate passing by the home side plus Warriors converting a higher percentage of their shots, meant the score at the end of the third quarter was extended to 33-25.

The final quarter saw Bombers go out with gusto.

Captain Paul Guest rallied his players and Perry found his form again.

Despite matching the Warriors, shot for shot and winning the final quarter 16-14, the Bombers went down overall by a score of 47-41.
