Bury St Edmunds race ace Richard Blunt was crowned with the Classic Racing Motorcycle Club Superbike Championship title after another superb display at Snetterton.

In the final meeting of the calender at Snetterton, Blunt wrapped up the title with back-to-back victories on Saturday to maintain his perfect sequence of 18 wins from 18 races.

With the championship secured, Blunt took the opportunity to push his Portico Sport 1260cc Kawasaki to the limit in search of the much-coveted lap record, something he duly delivered after knocking a second off the previous record.

However, his achievement came at a price as an electrical fault forced him out of the later ‘Race of Aces’ event, which was won by Richard Steadman.

Blunt heads to Mallory Park, Leicestershire, on Sunday as he aims to consolidate his lead in the Golden Era Superbike Championship.
