Walsham’s Nicky Bloom was the hero as Suffolk came from 15-9 down to draw 18-18 with Wiltshire.

The British Inter Counties Championship encounter at Kesgrave Social Club began with the women’s B team, and saw the Stowmarket duo of Leesa Woollard and Barbara Chenery both taste defeat.

Bury St Edmunds’ Bev Turner was also on the losing end as Suffolk fell 5-1 behind.

Jason Elvin took man of the match in the men’s B competition with a 25.91 one-dart average in his 3-0 win over Andrew McAllister.

The Walsham thrower secured a 6-6 draw for his team but it still meant that Suffolk trailed after the first day.

Bury’s Nicki Doidge and Sami Watson and Stowmarket’s Mandy Reeves were all on the losing end for the women’s A team as their opponents edged closer to an overall victory.

Bury’s Richard Watson (22.16) pulled Suffolk to just four behind at 15-11, before Walsham’s Jason Mold (24.17) continued the comeback with a tense deciding leg win.

Wiltshire held an 18-17 advantage going into the final game of the weekend, but Bloom (23.58) held his nerve to complete a dramatic comeback for the home side to secure a draw.
