Bury St Edmunds’ Sara Bird finished among the top 10 females in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon earlier this month.
After battling through several injuries during the last few months, Bird ran a time of two hours, 48 minutes and 45 seconds.
The time secured Bird 66th overall (10th female) in the marathon, which was contested between nearly 4,000 other runners.
Bird’s father Trevor, who accompanied his daughter on the trip, suffered a blocked colon while in Canada, which required emergency surgery.
“Overall I loved representing England,” said Bird. “It was great, but it would have been so much better if my circumstances had been different.”
