A Suffolk cricketer hopes to help a group of young Nepalese players who had their facilities destroyed by earthquakes earlier this year.

Ben Shepperson, of Mildenhall Cricket Club, is part of a 13-strong MCC squad that has travelled to South Asia for a mini tour, which will include competitive fixtures against Nepal.

“Cricket is really gaining popularity in Nepal,” Shepperson said. “Going over there and hopefully having a positive impact is something I’m looking forward to.”

The 23-year-old, pictured in action above, and the rest of his teammates will play five fixtures in Kathmandu as part of a two-week tour, that will also offer coaching clinics to Nepalese youngsters.

He added: “I have been a member of the MCC for three years and it runs quite a prolific tour schedule.

“I applied for this one and am really looking forward to being involved.”
