Needham Market have announced the signing of a new midfielder on a two year deal.

The Bloomfields side have secured the signing of Gareth Heath on a two year contract.

Heath moves from Leiston for the 2017/18 season - and is also a former AFC Sudbury captain.

He has long been admired by the club and manager Richard Wilkins was delighted to secure the signature of the goal scoring midfielder.

Richard Wilkins said:" We are really pleased that Gareth has signed for us and having worked with him previously I know exactly what he will bring to the team.

"He is the best non league player to have not turned professional and in the years since I've managed, I have never had a fitter player.

"He had another good season last year scoring or assisting in 30 goals and I feel he is exactly what we need at the club.

"He will add experience to our young squad and for that reason I have made him captain and am obviously delighted that he's decided to join us.

"We look forward to seeing him in the Needham shirt."

It is the second signing for the Marketmen in less than a week, after announcing the signing of centre half Dan Morphew on Tuesday.
