Rob Manton has just attained instructor certification level one under the Combative and Tactical Strategy (CATS) self defence system.

He has been training under chief instructor Leroy Arnold for the past two years.

Arnold is currently running starter foundation courses for adults aged 18 and over and are for people who have no basic fighting skills to the very proficient advanced instructors — it is usually an 18-week programme.

The next course is being arranged for mid-May.

n Andrew Cunningham (10th Kyu), Declen Cunningham (8th Kyu), Colin Quirk (8th Kyu), Sam McConnell (7th Kyu) and Sheldon Hubbard (6th Kyu) have all achieved their latest Fa-Gai-Ha-Jai grades at Stanton Scout Hut.

Anyone wishing to participate in the CATS system or Fa-Gai-Ha-Jai should get in touch with Arnold on 07979 071125 or
