Macdonald secures Bowl’s place in the Knockout Cup final
Thurston and Bury Bowl will contest the Plastic Trade Frames Bury Sunday League Division Two Knockout Cup final, writes Ian Friend.
A 2-1 victory over LABAS secured Thurston’s place in the final, while a hat-trick from Ash Macdonald helped Bury to a 4-0 win against Great Whelnetham.
Jon Nice netted the other goal for Bury to advance to the finale at Ram Meadow and secure their fifth final in four seasons.
Metro Inns were 6-0 winners at Club Brazilla in the League Floodlit Cup, while elsewhere Cockfield were beaten 2-1 by Howards in Division One.
A home win was awarded to Gym United over Thetford Rangers, with Callum Lee and Aaron Robinson scoring the goals in Buxall’s 2-1 victory against Cock Inn.
In Division Two Great Barton saw their home match with Occold postponed, while CFC Bury were given a home win over Lavenham.
Horringer saw off FC Gulls 6-3 in the one other match in the division, with Tommy Old (two) and Jack Howard both netting on their debuts.
Max Willsher, Josh Cornish and Will Carter were also on target for the winning visitors, who saw their goalkeeper Ryan Maxwell save a Gulls penalty.
Westbury and Thorndon could not be separated in Division Four as they shared the points, while Norton hit seven without reply in an emphatic 7-0 home win over Badwell.
Athletico Liberty left Moreton Hall with all three points in a closely-fought 3-2 encounter, and Danepak were also successful on the road scoring twice in a 2-0 success against Abbots.
The semi-finals of the Division Three Knockout Cup are set to take place this weekend.
