BURY ST EDMUNDS’ Chris Lord is celebrating the news that his sparkling form in front of national selectors has earned him a call up to the England Under-18s Club Squad.
Lord, of Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, excelled alongside fellow London and South East Division players in an under-18s festival to select a squad of players not currently attached to Premiership academys.
Friday’s game against the Midlands kicked off the trials, with the London & South East side coming back from 10-0 and 21-10 down to win 34-28.
On Sunday the side swamped the South West, Lord scoring twice, Diss’ Shaq Meyers twice and Sudbury’s Gabriel Carroll once.
Jo Tarrant (Colchester and St Joseph’s College) landed three conversions to make it 31-8. The strong showing in the festival has seen Carroll called up to the England Club Squad along with fellow divisional players Meyers and Jo Tarrant.
