Last agrees Diss switch
Sam Last has agreed to sign for Diss Town, and according to manager Jason Cook, he will be the first of many new arrivals at Brewers Green Lane this summer.
Last will join the Tangerines from fellow Thurlow Nunn League Division One North side Team Bury, for whom his performances last term earned him the managers’ player of the year award.
The versatile defender also has previous Thurlow Nunn League experience with the likes Walsham-le-Willows and AFC Sudbury Reserves.
It is a different type of addition to last summer, when after being appointed at the 11th hour, Cook recruited a number of players that had never previously played at Step 6.
And Cook is confident more players with Thurlow Nunn League experience will be signing on the dotted line.
“Sam is young and a real up and coming player, but at the same time he has a good bit of Thurlow Nunn experience,” said the Diss boss. “We lacked those type of players last season, especially at the start when it was a bit hectic.
“We sometimes threw away good positions, which would not have happened if we had that bit more of experience.
“We have a hit list of players we want and they will hopefully be on board soon.”
With regards to last season’s squad, Virgilio Leitao, Stephen Vincent, Jake Hayhoe and Charlie Lambe have all agreed to return next term.
