Jacobs seals a medal haul

Corporal Bronwyn Jacobs of 863 Thurston Air Cadets, won three silver medals at the annual UK Air Training Corps athletic championships.

Having won gold medals and trophies at Norfolk and Suffolk Wing and Regional events, the 17-year-old was selected to represent the Central and East Air Training Corps Region in the national finals held at RAF Cosford.

Despite training as a longer distance endurance runner and in steeplechase, in one day Bronwyn won silver medals in 400m, 1500m, and 5x400m, as well as helping the team home in fourth in 4x100m.

As a result of Jacobs’ tremendous effort, the Central and East team went on to win the overall competition and crowned for another year as UK champions.

“It was a really hard day, and I am pleased with our result,” said Jacobs. “The best bit was competing as part of such a great team, and making new friends from other parts of the UK’s Air Training Corps.”
