Ives enjoys fine weekend for Stowmarket

In Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Division Six, Stowmarket (215-8) beat Melton St Audrys (158-8) by 57 runs.

Michael Ives was the star of the show as he scored 92 and took three catches behind the wicket, conceding no byes, while youngsterAlex Johns picked up three wickets.

n In Division Nine West, Stowmarket II (184-7) lost to Bardwell (185-2) by eight wickets.

Captain Richard Baxter led the way with 68 and all-rounder Simon Codd hit a quick fire half-century as a respectable 184 was totalled but it was never going to be enough to see the side to victory.

n In Hunts County Bats League Division Four, Stowmarket (184) beat Rougham (146) by 38 runs.

Stowmarket completed a well-earned victory in this relegation battle, mainly due to the impact of youngster Stuart Lilley’s burst of 3-25 off his allocated six overs.

Earlier in the contest, Ives had completed a good weekend, scoring 42 and taking a fine catch in the gully, having handed over the gloves to the evergreen Stowmarket keeper Clive Witherly.
