Ben Chenery has backed his injury-plagued Bury Town squad to build on their current four-game unbeaten run ahead of a trip to Romford tomorrow (3pm).

Following a blip in form which saw them pick up just one win from nine matches during the festive period, the Blues appear to have turned a corner, picking up three successive victories before a goalless draw with Phoenix Sports on Saturday.

And that upturn in form has left Chenery believing his ninth-placed side are now heading in the right direction as they aim to cut the 10 point deficit to Cray Wanderers in the final Ryman League Division One North play-off spot.

“We have picked up 10 points from a possible 12 and are heading in the right direction,” said Chenery, whose side’s trip to Aveley was postponed on Monday due to a waterlogged pitch.

“We had our blip and although it lasted a little longer than we would have liked, I take heart from the performances.

“Having eight senior players missing killed us, that is the situation but we’ve turned a corner.

“We are doing the right things and we just need to make sure we continue and see where it takes us.”
