Important win for Bury Saints for first points
The Bury Saints got their first ever win at BAFA Premiership South level with an eye-watering 58-26 win over the Farnham Knights in glorious sunshine at Thetford on Sunday.
The Saints scored nine touchdowns to the Knights four, always staying at least five points ahead throughout the game.
The team missed the majority of the extra point conversions but it did not matter on a day they crossed the line so many times.
Saints quarterback Fred Boyle scored six touchdowns and was involved in most of the scores.
Saints head coach Christian Cantrill was very happy with the final score.
He said: “I’m pleased with how the team responded being 0-2 so far this year, and they played well for the vast majority of the game.
“But we know we can’t commit as many errors next week against the National Champion Warriors at home.
“Winning was our goal today and the players and staff responded to that and did well.
“Next week will be another stern test of our resolve and we have some work to do to prepare for them.”
The Saints host the Warriors at Thetford Rugby Club on Sunday ( 2pm).
