Culford sports scholar, Lucy Holder, 14, pictured right, has been selected as one of only 65 girls from around the country to attend a two day under-15 training camp for selection for the under-16 England hockey squad.

The camp is to be held at Lilleshall National Sports and Conferencing Centre in March.

Holder, who is currently studying for her GCSEs at Culford, has been playing hockey at a competitive level for two years and is determined to make it to the top of her game.

She has played through five elimination heats in order to secure the sought-after place.

“I’m planning to go to Loughborough University to get the qualifications and experience I need to succeed,” said Holder. “My ambition is to play professionally and then practise physiotherapy when I retire.”
