Walsham-le-Willows moved six points clear of the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division relegation zone after beating Swaffham Town 3-0 on Wednesday night.

Paul Smith’s men racked up their fourth win in a row as their leading goalscorers Andrew Wood (two) and Tanner Call grabbed the goals at Summer Road.

The Willows have now scored 15 goals in their last four games, with their midweek win following on from a 5-1 home thrashing against Haverhill Rovers at the weekend.

Nathan Clarke, Craig Nurse, Joshua Curry, Michael Barwick and Call were all on target at the weekend, as Walsham continued their climb up the table with another victory.

Smith’s side (14th) will look to make it five wins in a row when they visit bottom side Whitton United tomorrow (3pm).

n Thetford Town (18th) endured a mixed last seven days, as after losing 2-0 to Brantham Athletic on Saturday, they then bounced back with a 3-1 win at Gorleston on Tuesday night.

Joseph Allen (two) and Ryan Pearson netted the goals for Thetford, which leaves the Brecklanders one point off safety ahead of hosting Godmanchester Rovers tomorrow (3pm).

n In the First Division, Stowmarket Town (14th) look to end their cup semi-final hangover when they visit Cornard United tomorrow (3pm).

Stow conceded a late goal in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Ely City and then lost 2-0 at AFC Sudbury Reserves on Tuesday night.

Town’s First Division Knockout Cup final will be held at Mildenhall Town FC on Friday, May 6.
