GB call-up just the start for Culford trio

A trio of Culford’s rising tennis stars are set to get a taste of life at the top after being selected to represent Great Britain Under-12s.

Kylie Bilchey, Derrick Chen and Matthew Gedney have all received their first call-up to the national squad for an international tournament in France at the end of next month.

The pupils at the public school on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds have benefited from Culford’s Tennis Scholarship programme.

Culford’s Head of Tennis Performance, James Yates, said: “Having three Great Britain players in our programme is a clear statement of the direction and quality of delivery at Culford School.

“We are working closely with the Lawn Tennis Association to bring not only the best players to the Culford, but also coaches that are the envy of any international coaching programme.”

Chen hails from nearby Cambridge, while Bilchey comes from Lincolnshire and Gedney’s family reside in east Suffolk in Ipswich.
