NEXT GENERATION: Eastgate Boxing Club's new influx of youngsters

Head Coach Mick Bryant believes Eastgate Boxing Club are set to enjoy a bright future after the club extended their youth set-up.

With renovations completed at their Rougham-based gym, thanks in part to a grant of £4,500 from the Suffolk Foundation, the club have been able to take on a new influx of 24 new youngsters from the age of six.

And with a new generation coming through the ranks, Bryant is confident of a successful future as well as being delighted to help the community.

“We have had a good response and the kids are really thriving,” he said.

“We have never taken them on that young but they are really learning and it is massively beneficial for them.

“They won’t all make it as boxers but that is irrelevant when you think about the positive affect and benefits to their health.

“It is also great to do our bit for the community and that is massively important to us.

“With a new generation coming through things are looking really bright for the future of the club.”

n There was disappointment for Eastgate’s Kaleb Howard-Robertson as he suffered a narrow defeat to Oliver Dragisic at Sudbury Boxing Club’s recent open show.
