Former Scottish rugby international joins Risby-based school

A former Scotland International rugby player has joined Cherry Trees Preparatory and Montessori School as its new sports teacher.

Graham Ellis, who represented his country 16 times as hooker, brings 25 years of teaching experience, including tenure at Stewart’s Melville College, Europe’s largest private school.

Mr Ellis said he joined Cherry Trees to help children grow holistically.

He said: “I want to be able make a difference to the lives of young people and to develop in them a desire to live in an healthy and active way with a love for sport and exercise.”

Mr Ellis is revelling his new role at the Risby-based school.

He said: “I have been impressed with the amount of sport on the curriculum and with the enthusiasm of the children towards sport.

“It is also exciting that the school is soon to grow and to improve facilities.”

Head of school Carole Beedham said: “I am delighted that Graham joins us at this exciting point in the school’s history, where we open our doors to children from 11 years and upwards and unveil our plans for a new boarding house for September.”
