Weekend round-up: Bury Town record fourth consecutive victory

Warren Whitely and Craig Parker fired Bury Town to their fourth consecutive victory in the Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday.

The Blues, who visit Concord Rangers on Tuesday (7.45pm), take on Leiston in the Suffolk Premier Cup semi-final on Thursday (7.45pm) and host Cray Wanderers on Saturday (3pm), defeated Kingstonian 2-0.

In Ryman One North, Needham Market thrashed Aveley 4-1 thanks to a brace from Bradley Barber and further strikes from Jemel Fox and Sam Newson.

Walsham-le-Willows and Mildenhall Town drew 1-1 in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, while Thetford Town earned a surprise point at home to Brantham Athletic.

Bury St Edmunds’ rugby side did not have a game, but can clinch the London One North title by defeating Chingford at The Haberden on Saturday after second-placed Eton Manor failed to pick up a bonus-point win over Colchester.

In London Two North East, Stowmarket slipped to third from bottom with a 29-19 loss to Lowestoft and Yarmouth, who leapfrogged the Suffolk side.
