Walsham-le-Willows’ Jack Brame scored on his Bury Town debut to earn the Blues a point against Margate in the Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday.

Brame, who signed on dual registration terms from Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division outfit Walsham late in the week, headed home Billy Clark’s 36th-minute corner to hand Bury the lead.

But their lead lasted just five minutes before Charlie Wassmer equalised in controversial circumstances when Jefferson Louis appeared to foul Tom Bullard in the build-up.

In Ryman One North, Needham Market came from behind to record a 3-1 victory at Brentwood Town thanks to goals from Luke Ingram, Ian Westlake and debutant Dave Cowley.

Steve Holder bagged his third brace in as many games as Mildenhall Town won 3-1 at Woodbridge Town in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, while Thetford Town pushed league leaders Hadleigh United all the way before succumbing to a 2-1 defeat at Mundford Road.

In the First Division, Stowmarket Town won 3-2 at Cornard United, Needham Market Reserves overcame Debenham LC 2-1 and Team Bury drew 1-1 at Long Melford.

Norwich City eased their relegation fears in the Barclays Premier League after a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur thanks to Robert Snodgrass’ 47th-minute strike on Sunday, while Ipswich Town’s chances of reaching the Sky Bet Championship play-offs took a further hit when they were beaten 3-0 at runaway leaders Leicester City.

In rugby’s SSE National Three London and South East, Bury St Edmunds recorded a stunning 62-27 triumph at Thurrock with Ben Radmell, Tim Mann, Dan Garrard, Casey Stone (two), Sam Bixby, Sean Davis and Tanimo Samoa crossing for tries.

Stowmarket lost 35-14 at Enfield Ignatians in London Two North East and dropped to second from bottom in the table after victory for fellow strugglers Norwich.
