Ipswich’s UEFA Cup winner John Wark told how his side were desperate not to concede a goal in their 9-0 victory over fans’ side Forget-Me-Not FC at Bury Town on Sunday.
But Wark, who lives in Onehouse, near Stowmarket, also told how the players enjoyed coming together to raise important funds for dementia care at West Suffolk Hospital and Ipswich Town’s Academy.
Around 600 fans turned out at a sun-drenched Ram Meadow on Sunday to see the likes of Kieron Dyer, Jermaine Wright, John McGreal and Alan Lee roll back the years in a special charity outing together.
Current first-team player Tyrone Mings was among the crowd enjoying the family day out.
There were four goals for London-based fan Martin Beecroft, one of three supporters who paid to play for the Legends side.
Other goals came from Dyer, his 13-year-old son Kae Dyer (two), Hartest-based Lee and ex-Bury Town player Simon Milton, who was managing the Legends’ side.
