Today’s local football and rugby fixtures have been hit by the stormy weather that has swept across the country over the past 48 hours, but Stowmarket Rugby Club’s Suffolk derby at Ipswich has been cleared to go ahead this afternoon (2pm).

Thetford Town’s crucial Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division encounter at Ely City is also on this afternoon (3pm).

Bury Town’s trip to Hampton and Richmond Borough in the Ryman Premier and Needham Market’s Ryman One North home clash with Heybridge Swifts are both off.

In the Thurlow Nunn Premier, Walsham-le-Willows’ fixture with Brantham Athletic and Mildenhall Town v Newmarket Town fell this morning.

Team Bury v Swaffham Town and Haverhill Borough v Needham Market Reserves, in the Thurlow Nunn First Division, are also off.

In rugby, Bury St Edmunds’ winter break will last a little longer after their trip to Thurrock in SSE National Three London and South East was called off on Friday.
