Have your say

STOWMARKET Town manager Shane Austin will hope his new-look team have gelled before the Thurlow Nunn League First Division season starts.

Their campaign will begin at home to Downham Town on Saturday, August 11 (3pm).

Austin has indicated that he wants to take it ‘one game at a time’ with his new squad.

They have added the likes of attacking midfielder Matthew Hayden, Mark Turner, James Ross, Matthew Percy and Ben Lapworth to their squad.

Additionally, Austin has also brought in five new players from Town’s youth team and reserves.

Many players have left following a campaign Austin described as ‘terrible’ and is hoping to improve next season.

Stowmarket finished second-bottom – only Conard United were below them.

Incidently Stowmarket will start their preliminary round of the Thurlow Nunn League First Division Knockout Cup against Cornard United on September 8 (3pm).

A week before they will face Stansted in the FA Vase first qualifying round on September 1 (3pm).

Stow’s pre-season has been mixed, it started with a 3-1 away win at Brantham, but it was followed by a 4-0 defeat at Capel Plough and a 3-0 loss at home to Ipswich Valley Rangers.

Stowmarket will have one more pre-season friendly before they start the competitive season when they play Hedingham United at home tomorrow (3pm).
