Walsham 0 Ely City 2

WALSHAM-LE-WILLOWS were left deep in relegation trouble after going down to defeat against title-chasing Ely City.

The Robins, sitting third in the table, started the better team and used their long throw to advantage, testing Duncan McAnally and the Walsham defence.

At the other end, Jack Brame sent a driven cross in, only for it to elude the Walsham forwards.

Ryan Foster played a neat one-two with James Tatham, but hit his shot straight at the keeper.

Ely stuck to their strengths and their first goal came from a good pass from Dave Wilson, which put pressure on the Walsham defence.

The backpass from Matt Morton saw McAnally swing a leg at it but miss the ball, allowing Richard Gammon to tap in after his intial effort same back off the post.

Walsham conceded a corner on 47 minutes. The headed clearance fell straight to Luke Parkinson whose volley flew past Duncan McAnally.

Walsham: McAnally, Lambert (Taylor 76), Soanes, Morton, Cusack, Robinson, Foster, Brame, Diaper (Hughes 72), Tatham, Brown.

n Walsham visit Norwich United tomorrow (3pm).
