Scowcroft injury hits Blues’ hopes

Have your say

A POTENTIALLY serious injury to James Scowcroft marred Bury Town’s final home pre-season match last night.

The former Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace player lasted just 13 minutes of his substitute appearance before taking a tumble and complaining of a groin problem.

Early diagnosis suggested the 35-year-old may have suffered a tear to his groin, but he visited hospital for more treatment following the 1-1 draw with Cambridge United. Craig Nurse also limped off.

An own goal from Jonathon Thorpe gave the Blues the lead in the 73rd-minute, but substitute James Brighton smashed home a leveller four minutes from the end.
