Parker returns to Clarets to leave midfield options on the thin side for Bury

Have your say

Bury Town’s squad has been further depleted by the return of Craig Parker to parent club Chelmsford City.

The Clarets invoked a clause to recall him before Bury’s Suffolk Premier Cup clash with Kirkley and Pakefield on Tuesday.

“He has done magnificently for us,” said assistant manager Ben Chenery.

With midfielders Connor Hall, Callum Kearns (both knee), Billy Clark (ankle) and Lee Reed (stomach) all out, the Blues are short of options in the middle of the park.

Hall could be back within a month, while scans have revealed Lee Reed’s injury not to be a hernia, but a torn stomach muscle.

Captain Tom Bullard (toe) is also a doubt as the Blues prepare to host East Thurrock United tomorrow (3pm) and visit Canvey Island on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, Elliot Hunter (knee) played for the first time in 15 months when featuring for Team Bury on Saturday.
