Needham Market 2
Callum Harrison says it was an easy decision for him to make when he was offered a return to Bloomfields for a second loan spell at Needham Market.
The 19-year-old rejoined the Marketmen on a one-month loan from Sky Bet League Two side Colchester United last week, and played a key part in setting up the second goal during Needham’s 2-0 win against Wroxham at the weekend.
Harrison was a 58th-minute substitute on Saturday, coming on straight after John Sands had opened the scoring in The Buildbase FA Trophy first round qualifying tie, and helped assist Ollie Snaith for the second goal which sealed the win.
“It’s good to be back,” the central midfielder said. “I enjoy it, getting minutes under my belt is a good feeling.
“For me personally it would have been nice to have tried and gone a little bit higher up, but playing here is great and I’m happy to play here.
“When Needham said they were interested I snapped at it really because I know it’s minutes under my belt, and I know everyone here as well.
“I felt sharp when I came back (to Colchester) from loan the first time, that’s why I felt to come back here it would benefit me a lot.
“I got back into the Under-21s team and at the end of last season I actually ended up getting in the first-team squad.
“That’s the aim again, to lift my confidence and get my fitness levels back to where they need to be and help Needham at the same time.”
The opening goal on Saturday came on 57 minutes when the in-form Sands drove into the box and fired home his seventh goal in eight games.
Substitute Snaith scored his first goal for the club in the 84th minute, as the Marketmen advanced to the second round qualifying of the FA Trophy for the first time, where they will host Harrow Borough on November 12.
Needham (second) have the chance to go top of the Ryman League Premier Division when they host Dulwich Hamlet tomorrow (3pm).
With leaders Leiston not in action, a win for Mark Morsley’s side will guarantee them top spot heading into a trip to Bury Town in the Alan Turvey Trophy on Tuesday (7.45pm).
