NEEDHAM Market remain a point clear at the top of the Ryman League Division One North table after an emphatic 4-0 victory over Thamesmead Town at Bloomfields on Saturday.

A Duane Wright brace was added to by Danny Bloomfield and Danny Thrower to ensure all three points and help the Marketmen cling onto top spot, ahead of Grays Athletic, having played a game more.

Bury Town’s slight improvement in form continued on Saturday with a hard fought 1-1 draw away to promotion favourites Lewes at the Dripping Pan. After Keiran Leabon struck an equaliser in the 43rd minute, The Ram Meadow outfits task was made harder as Danny Cunningham was dismissed for his second bookable offence. However the Blues hung on and could have even snatched victory with a number of opportunities.

In the rugby, Bury bounced back to winning ways with a 37-21 victory over Brentwood at the Haberden on Saturday. The result moves the club up to third in the London One North table and leaves them five points behind current table-toppers Colchester.
