Ryman One North: Bury Town 1 Dereham Town 2
Dereham Town came from behind to take the three points back home on Boxing Day.
A goal from Adam Smith and a Luke Tuttle penalty were enough to give the visitors the win.
Bury were the better of the two sides first half and started quickly.
On just three minutes, Ollie Canfer got in to the box but his shot hit the post.
Bury were in control and soon took the lead as Justin Miller’s towering header beat Will Viner and few in to the top corner on 15 minutes.
Viner was in exceptional form, saving from Cemal Ramadan on 35 minutes, tipping his shot over the bar with an athletic save.
He pulled off another brilliant save at full stretch from Ramadan on the stroke of half-time.
After the break Dereham took the game to Bury and almost equalized on 58 minutes when Rhys Logan fired a shot across goal which was cleared off the line by Darcy De’ath’s diving clearance header.
Thirteen minutes from time, Dereham did get the equalizer when Smith squeezed through the Bury defence with some ease before slottingpast Neil O’Sullivan.
Bury were lacking in the second half and paid the price for not putting their chances away in the first half.
In the 82nd minute, Dereham won a penalty after O’Sullivan brought down Logan and Tuttle sent O’Sullivan the wrong way to score the winner.
Bury’s best chance to grab an equaliser came in injury time when a determined run down the wing from Ollie Hughes got him into the box where his cross went along the six-yard box and beat everyone as it went harmlessly out of play.
Bury should have been out of sight by half time but for the performance of Will Viner who was outstanding throughout the game.
