Haughley and Thurston forced to settle for a point

Have your say

Title-chasing under-11 teams from Haughley and Thurston played out a 1-1 draw in our match of the week at the weekend.

Haughley scored the opener, but with Fraser Sadler and Tommy Flack running the Thurston midfield it was no surprise when they levelled through Ryan Stevenson coming in from the wing to stroke the ball home.

Haughley missed a second-half penalty, while the impressive Thurston defensive unit of Alfie Gamble, Will Chalkley and James West, as well as goalkeeper Joe Halls, held firm.

Jacob Pettit went closest to grabbing a winning goal for Thurston.

n Brandon Lasses Under-15s moved into the semi-finals of the Norfolk Women’s and Girls’ League Cup with a convincing 8-0 win over Norwich City Girls.

Sam Cole scored five, Millie Bales two and Georgia Dargan one, while Katie Amacker made some good saves to preserve her clean sheet.

A first-half hat-trick by man-of-the-match Ethan Heap helped Red Lodge Under-14s to a 9-1 triumph over Haverhill Rovers.

Ryan Collis (three), Kieran Hayden, Harry Harding and Samuel Thompson were also on target, while Ryan Clark, Charlie Craig and Jess Linger performed well.

Bury Town Under-14s went down 4-2 at AFC Sudbury despite goals for Harry Rolfe — from Jake Paxton’s corner — and George Sanders — from Lee Chapman’s cross.

Joe Stanton had a strike ruled out for offside.

Emmie Hutt (four), Hannah Rogers (three), Nicole Smith (three), Melissa Boulton (two) and Jess Horn (two) were on target in Thetford Bulldog Belles Under-13s’ 14-0 triumph at North Walsham.

Walsham-le-Willows Under-12s bagged a 15-goal bonanza at Bury Town Dynamos, with Will Egglestone (four), Ed Justice (four), George Clayton-Leek (three), Harvey Hubbard (two), Josh Tysoe and Zacc Hindry on target.
