TWO quickfire extra-time goals saw Hadleigh United knock Walsham-le-Willows out of the FA Vase at Summer Road on Wednesday night.

After the sides couldn’t be separated in their first round proper tie even after extra-time at the Millfield in Saturday’s 1-1 draw, Wednesday’s replay again went beyond the 90 minute-format.

But a Matt Downing tap in from an excellent ball from Shane Wardley finally broke the deadlock in the replay after 110 minutes.

Within a minute it was 2-0, with Marcus Josiah beating Duncan McNally to Scott Chaplin’s ball over the top to roll into the net.

Hadleigh’s win means they receive the £900 prize money and now progress into the second round where they will travel to Colney Heath, Hertfordshire, who play in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division, on November 17 (3pm).
