Thetford Town 10 Cornard United 0
THETFORD Town took advantage of an understrength Cornard side to record their biggest league win in 30 years winning 10-0.
Town took the lead on five minutes when Bruno Tavares powered home a 25 yard free-kick, followed by a Matt Dixon penalty on 15 minutes.
Town were camped in the Cornard half and Dixon made it three on 20 minutes with a run into the box and a good finish.
Within a minute, Town had scored a fourth through Valter Rocha.
Cornard had an effort saved by Ian Fancett before Dixon completed his hat trick on 27 minutes.
The sixth followed soon after when a solo effort from Tavares was scored at the near post.
Town’s seventh came when Tavares hit the bar and Steve Harley followed up with a pass to Dixon for his fourth, leaving his side with a commanding 7-0 lead at the break.
But for some excellent saves from the Cornard keeper, Town would have been in double figures much earlier.
Two goals from Harley — one an excellent solo effort — and Nathan Szyszlyk completed the rout in the second half.
