Farnborough Town 2 Bury Town 2

DESPITE racing into a two-goal lead after 11 minutes, Bury were glad to earn a replay after Farnborough came back strongly to equalise with two goals in two second-half minutes.

Only three minutes were on the clock when a fine four-man move led to Billy Clark giving Bury the lead.

Eight minutes later, they doubled their advantage when Clark again finished well following good work by Lee Reed.

Bury dominated the early play and could have added to their tally as Clark and Kieran Leabon both went close and keeper Tom Lovelock saved well from Lee Reed.

The hosts slowly came back into the game as the half progressed but, apart from an effort from Reece Connelly that went just over, they were unable to trouble Bury keeper Marcus Garnham.

Farnborough continued to press but were unable to penetrate the Bury defence, and Bury created chances on the break. The best of these fell to John Sands in the dying minutes, but he was denied by Lovelock when through on goal.

The second half started with the hosts still on the offensive and Bury defending well despite having to deal with several crosses and corners.

Farnborough finally broke through on 62 minutes when substitute Jordan Merriman forced his way though the Bury rearguard to score a fine solo goal.

In the next minute, with the Bury defence in some confusion, Merriman took full advantage to fire home the equaliser.

This signalled a further all-out attack by the home side, but Bury contained them well and they failed to create any clear-cut chances.

Bury continued to look dangerous on the break and went close to regaining the lead when Leabon failed to convert from close range.

Farnborough continued to look for the winner, but Bury held on to earn a replay.
