Bury Town will not enjoy a trip to Ipswich Town’s Portman Road for their Suffolk Premier Cup final encounter with Felixstowe and Walton United.
The Blues were due to play at the Tractor Boys’ home venue, but Ipswich Town’s possible involvement in the end-of-season Sky Bet Championship play-offs has meant that finding suitable dates has proved impossible for the encounter, as well as three other cup finals.
The match will instead now be hosted at AFC Sudbury’s The MEL Group Stadium on Tuesday, April 29 (7.30pm).
Suffolk Football Association chief executive Laura Smith said: “It is with the regret of both ourselves and Ipswich Town Football Club that for many good reasons we will be unable to stage our normal four county cup finals at Portman Road this season as anticipated.
“With the club poised to reach the play-offs at the end of the season and followed very closely with staging the Barry Manilow concert, it has been impossible to firm up dates for the four games we would normally play at Portman Road.
“In fairness to all concerned, not least the participating clubs and match officials, and to stop the uncertainty this is causing, it has now become necessary for alternative arrangements to be put in place.”
Brandon Town Ladies’ Suffolk Women’s Cup final with AFC Sudbury Ladies has been moved to Ram Meadow on Thursday, May 1 (7.30pm).
