It was an evening of mixed results as Needham Market continued their winning start to the season while Bury Town and Team Bury suffered convincing losses.
It was a disappointing night for Bury Town, who slipped further down the Ryman League Premier Division table after slumping to a 4-0 defeat at Wingate and Finchley.
Bury goalkeeper Marcus Garnham was kept busy all night as a David Knight hat-trick and a Karl Olayide goal consigned them to defeat.
Needham made it four wins from four as they beat Cheshunt 4-2 at home, cementing their place at the top of the Ryman One North table.
Chris Hogg gave the Marketmen the lead on 29 minutes before Arian Tadbakhsh levelled soon after.
Ian Westlake restored the home side’s lead on 41 minutes, but Cheshunt equalised once more in the 63rd minute through Anthony Anstead.
Needham, however, managed to pull away in the final 20 minutes, with Sam Nunn scoring in the 72nd minute before Ian Westlake grabbed his second in the final minutes.
Team Bury also suffered a loss as they were defeated 3-0 at home to Debenham LC in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division.
